"Robert believes that the business of real estate is much more than buying and selling. At its core is establishing homes for individuals and families, identifying worthwhile urban investment opportunities, and preserving the favorable characteristics of our neighborhoods"
Originally from Kansas City, Robert's formal education includes earning degrees in Zoology and Art History, as well as three years of Medicine. However his main interests have always been urban planning and architectural restoration.

Therefore, as a practicing real estate broker, resident, and property owner in San Francisco since 1976; Robert has used these specialized interests in selling and personally rehabilitating architecturally and historically significant buildings in the Western Addition, Haight Ashbury, Alamo Square, Hayes Valley, Upper Market, and Pacific Heights districts.

In addition to serving the individual needs of Buyers and Sellers, Robert has been a tireless advocate for historical preservation and responsible development through his involvement in the evolution of both the Beideman Area Historic District and the Fillmore Center. He is one of the past presidents of the Beideman Area Neighborhood Group, Planning Association of Divisadero Street, and Western Addition Parking Corporation in the Japan Center. And as one of the founding member of the Victorian Alliance, Robert has been vigilant in monitoring the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, the San Francisco Housing Authority, and City Hall in order that citizen concerns over excessive development and insensitive planning be positively reflected in the decisions of these government entities and that the best character of all neighborhoods be preserved. In 1997, the Residential Builders Association presented him with an award for his outstanding contribution and commitment to the construction industry in San Francisco. Also, his involvement and extensive participation in leadership roles with the Greater San Francisco Association of Realtors has given Robert a uniquely gained in-depth perspective of twenty years for the residential and commercial development possibilities with regard to historical buildings and new buildings in San Francisco.

Therefore, for your residential and commercial real estate needs in San Francisco, Robert can offer experience and a historical perspective matched by few others in the business.

    Jay N. Oppenheimer, Associate

"Having bought his first house on the Peninsula at the ripe old age age of 19, Jay has a strong belief in home-ownership, and the benefits you derive from owning your own home."

“San Francisco is such a special place, that everyone who comes here to visit wants to stay, so where better to buy property? When you wake up every morning, you can remind yourself that you’re in one of the most desired locations in the World - and you own a piece of it!” - Jay

Jay has lived in the Bay Area since the early 60's, so his broad knowledge of the City and surrounds is encyclopaedic. He has kept an ear (and a foot) in the real estate business for 15 years primarily on the finance side, but also as a buyer and seller of both residential and commercial real estate.

His early years were spent in Southern California, Oregon and Washington, following his Father's career as a Station Manager and Director in the fledgling TV business. This has given him a broad view of the whole West Coast, giving him an unique perspective on the real estate market as it has expanded so dramatically over the past 20 years.

He is an avid historic race car enthusiast and participant and has been associated with the automobile business in the City for many years.

Joining forces with Robert L. Speer & Associates was a natural for Jay, given his interest in things historic, and his contacts throughout the city keep him at the leading edge of current opportunities. If someone were to summarize who "Jay Oppenheimer" is, the words tenacious, honest, hard-working, sincere and knowledgeable would be the first to come to mind. He will go the extra mile to make sure his clients get everything they need - and more..
